News: BREAKING: Max B Sentenced To 75 Years In Prison, Brother Receives Life Sentence

Written by Cyrus Langhorne
Today (September 3), former Dipset associate Charly "Max B" Wingate was sentenced to 75 years behind bars for his part in a fatal 2006 robbery.
The rapper's step brother, Kelvin Leerdam, was sentenced to life in prison plus 35 years for his role in the crime.
Both Wingate and Leerdam looked resigned when Superior Court Judge Harry G. Carroll sentenced them in Hackensack, New Jersey. Wingate said he was not happy with his attorney, Gerald Saluti, and fired him during the hearing just before he received his sentence. Witnesses during trial testified that [the victims] David Taylor and his friend, Allan Plowden, were seen in Harlem a few days before the robbery, driving expensive cars and showing off a lot of cash. Leerdam's attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said her client deserved some leniency because he was only 21 at the time of the incident. Carroll, however, handed out a stiff sentence, saying Leerdam took a firearm with him to the hotel "and did not hesitate to use it." (North Jersey News)
A week after being found guilty on murder conspiracy charges, Wingate gave his first phone interview.
"Shout-out to [Gerald] Saluti, he did a great job," Max said in a phone interview. "He did a great job with the trial, you know it's unfortunate. It's Bergen County. I thought the jurors had me but they didn't, you know. Them h*es got weak at the end...I ain't even got to talk, I'ma let my music talk and fight this sh*t from in here...Sounds like I'ma get that appeal bond, appeal bail and we gonna jump out this motherf*cker like Tupac...I went so hard on my enemies this year it was pathetic...I had a dream me and T.I. came home at the same time and just ran in the studio and made a hit. Shout-out to T.I., hold your head brother...I wanna settle all the differences with my enemies, I wanna tighten this sh*t up with [Jim Jones], get this sh*t squared away so we can fall back and start getting some checks before hopefully this sh*t get outta hand and turn into a Biggie and Tupac situation and we don't need that." (Hip Hop Stan)
Max associate French Montana recently revealed a conversation between Jones and the jailed rapper.
"He's gonna have to let him off that contract," French told radio personality Jenny Boom Boom. "Jim's gonna have to give it up, ain't no choice. He ain't got no choice, what you gonna do, let him rot? He got a son, he got a wife, he's got family...We had a slight conversation, actually, Jim was ready to work it out a day before Max went in. They spoke, Max told me. He was getting ready to work it out...It was actually the people around Jim and the people that's around us [who made the call happen.] They called them because we were just trying to fix everything up 'cause my guy was under that contract and it was really hurtin' him. If [paying off his contract] was what was needed to get done, I was gonna do that...Jim was trying to work it out and I was like let's do it." (Jenny Boom Boom TV)
Prior to his interview, Max released a statement from jail a day after being read his guilty verdict.
"Thank you to all my fans for the continuous love and support during my trial," Max said in a statement. "With the advice of my attorney, family and friends I've decided to appeal my conviction, with full belief that I will be found innocent of all charges. This has been a long journey but, I have full faith that there will be a positive outcome and I will be cleared of all erroneous allegations." (All Hip Hop)

Busta Rhymes Prepping Next Release

By Justin Stewart

It's only been four months since Busta Rhymes came back onto the rap scene and dropped Back On My B.S. Clearly, this wasn't enough for the Dungeon Dragon as he is already in the works of getting his next album ready for release.

Entitled The Chemo, Bussa Bus has stated that the album is already 80% done. This will be the ninth album for the rapper since hitting the scene with The Coming back in 1996. In a discussion with MTV, Busta broke down the concept behind the upcoming body of work.

"It's the first time I'm announcing the name of the album. It's self-explanatory. We're coming to kill the cancer in music. I ain't trying to offend anybody. I think it's real important that we keep… We gotta re-establish the understanding that the perspective of Hip-Hop is to make music that always felt undeniable and unprecedented and we set a standard. And we always made sure we supplied the demand of being the ultimate cutting-edge form of entertainment that we always have and will always be. We always did a good job at doing that. The Chemo album is one of them albums that feels like what Hip-Hop is supposed to feel like, not what it's made out to be by the people in these positions at the executive level."

Back On My B.S. debuted in May alongside Eminem's Relapse and Blackout! 2 from Method Man and Redman. Although he was beat out by the two on the charts, the album was still able to hit the top 10 charts as it landed at the number six spot by selling 59, 300 copies in its first week.

Returning with this next release will further show Busta trying to regain control of his creative side since departing ways with Aftermath. Many speculated about the rapper after he released The Big Bang as they felt as though the usually playful rapper had adapted a more serious tone. As was indicated with the B.O.M.B. album, Busta is trying to take a full grasp of the wheel and restore the success that he was able to attain on his own.

So far, there has been no further details on the album as it relates to production, a release date or who will be featured in regards to artists.

On Monday, Busta Rhymes headlined the 4th Annual New Mexico Takeover in Albuquerque and was joined by Rick Ross, Flo Rida, Twista, Warren G and many others.
